Rosemary
When I open a new photo to edit, the bar at the top has a percentage next to the photo name as if the photo isn't completely loaded. Is that the case? Second, the tools on the left toolbar are all gray and not colorful as they are in the tutorials I have seen and I am also unable to use them. Is there a way to solve this problem? Thanks
Alfred
Welcome to the Affinity Forums, carleemalueg. :) The percentage next to the photo name is the current zoom level. Press Cmd+1 on a Mac or Ctrl+1 on Windows to change it to 100%. The tools on the left should only be greyed out when they're unavailable for use on the currently selected layer. Staff MEB Posted December 25, 2016 Staff Share Posted December 25, 2016 Hi carleemalueg, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) The Tools on the left remain greyed out until you open an image or create a new document. That's what I thought, Miguel, but the OP seemed to be describing what happens when a new photo is opened for editing. Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 16.7.2 (iPad 7th gen)
Rosemary
Yes the icons on the side are gray when an image is open, what layer(s) do I need to add to make those available?

harrym
Sounds like an install issue of some kind so would probably be better for AP support peeps to answer. If you're ok with attaching one of the files to this thread I can check it loads on my install if you wish? at least then you'll know it's not a file issue.
