chbrier
I made a circle, then I copy it and move the copy next to the first one. I can see the green line letting me know it's lined up. But if I move the copy while holding down the alt key (so I can use command-j to power duplicate, then I don't see the green lines and can't snap it to align perfectly with the first circle. What am I doing wrong? I would like to make patterns using the power duplicate method but I need to see that everything is lining up correctly. Alfred
If you don't want to override snapping, you can use Cmd-drag instead of Alt-drag. Alternatively, create the first duplicate directly on top of the original with Cmd+J (or by Cmd-clicking or Alt-clicking) and then move the duplicate to its new position; the next Cmd+J will not only duplicate the object but will duplicate the move as well (together with any rotation or resizing that you applied). chbrier 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)
chbrier
Thank you Alfred. It's nice to keep discovering all the things Affinity Designer is capable of :) Alfred
R C-R
It's nice to keep discovering all the things Affinity Designer is capable of :) Try this one: select an existing shape on the canvas & in the Transform panel in the W or H field delete whatever is there & replace it with "2 cats" (not including the parentheses). Press return, tab, or click back in the workspace window to see the change. Also try "0.5 cat" or "3 cats/2" or the like. This demonstrates several things: 1. You can use mathematical formulas in many numeric fields in Affinity. 2. There are several built-in constants you can use. 3. One of them is "cat," equal to approximately 28 inches. 4. Apparently there are some very large kitty cats at Affinity headquarters. 5. They may well be running the place, which would explain a few things. Merry Christmas! chbrier 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
