StocktonFisher
Create a tool Shape Builder tool much like that of Adobe Illustrator. liraco
liraco
You mean to make stars, and geometric figures? I'm all for it.
Alfred
The Affinity apps already have tools for stars and other geometric figures. The OP is asking for a tool to add and subtract shapes dynamically at creation time, so that you don't have to perform a separate sequence of geometry commands (add, subtract, intersect, etc). Swampcat
I agree, having to go to a separate sequence/workflow is a nuisance when having to get stuff done quick. I'm a little surprised it wasn't added way earlier

ambiroa
Isn't this already possible, like changing the width of a stroke? Hmm, forgot to find and try it during the beta :X (that trial really need to come before Christmas xD )
Staff MEB Posted December 22, 2016 Staff Share Posted December 22, 2016 Hi ambiroa, I'm not sure i'm following you but yes you can change the stroke of shape (or compound) you create with boolean operations. What the OP is asking here is for a tool to create complex shapes using boolean operations dynamically. Check this video for a simple example. Yeah I know exactly what the OP means as I use Illustrator. I just assumed that tool is something AD has already so I didn't try it during the beta. But I downloaded the AD for mac trial yesterday to try out all the things I like to be able to do, that I haven't got the time before during the beta. Hopefully I can spend those 10 days (btw, why 10, why not 30?) as much as possible on trying things that I can in Illustrator.
Staff MEB Posted December 22, 2016 Staff Share Posted December 22, 2016 Ah ok :) You can get the same results using the boolean operations in AD to create complex shapes. StocktonFisher
Thank you guys for the feedback! Would someone be willing to post a video using the tool in Affinity? That would be really beneficial! Thank you in advance! :)
