I'm hoping similar Normal map tools will be added to Designer.

While I can appreciate working with pixels, I like the precision and edit-ability of using vectors for the majority of my 3D artwork. I just prefer using vector tools along with any capabilities of placing bitmaps, filling vector shapes with (tiled) images etc.

I used to use Fireworks, and this was done in Xara more recently, but now having Affinity Designer, I've dropped all that cruft and now only use my beloved Designer!

I often work with texture sets like these as well:

This BPainter development just keeps getting better and better.

Once again, the YouTube video isn't displaying here. :(

Just a quick note about that video: You can use the "Continuous" checkbox in the Export persona to have Affinity Photo continuously save your texture out in the background for you instead of manually re-exporting it every time you make a change. Not sure how much it would affect performance with a high-res image, but for reasonably small files, I think it's a lot more convenient.

Seems to work when viewed in Safari but not Chrome... at least for me that's the case. Thanks Alfred. Any solution for this...?

Cheers Peter, good to know.

I'm afraid I don't know of a solution, Kevin. As a Windows user, Safari isn't an option for me: the Windows version hasn't been updated in years!

Hello WillBellJr

the normalmap files should also work within Designer. :)

I too like to work with text and vector shapes and thus they where the first to work.

just make sure to give the shapes a white colour and set Stroke to 'None'.

those gradients are a difficult task, no idea yet how to archive that purely inside of Affinity Photo/Designer.

Would be cool if there was any way to mae an auto import/export of the  Bpainter layers to Affinity Photo.
