Affinity Designer: Drag to pan view does not work

Recommended Posts

Using the space bar it should be possible to drag to pan (it is even helpfully said when the space bar is depressed - see attached), but I cannot get it to work. Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Windows 10, latest AD version. Move tool active. Using track pad.

Touchpads get slightly special treatment in Windows, and need to be tweaked to act more "mouse-like".

Go to Settings, Devices, Mouse and touchpad. Change the delay from medium delay (I think that was the default) to no delay.

Delay (to help prevent accidental touches when typing) can interfere with the drag function.

(You probably already know that drag on a touchpad is double-tap and drag i.e. don't lift after the second tap, start dragging instead.)

After setting to no delay, it now works for me in AD.

Thanks for your swift reply!

Having changed the touchpad settings - and rebooted the laptop - it still doesn't work at this end and I have decided to blame my touchpad as the mouse has no problems.

My MacBook Pro running bootcamp refuses to work in the same way as you describe (it is a 2015 model with 'Force touch' touchpad) however I know that the non-'Force touch' model used by the developer next to me does work correctly... There are definitely odd things happening with touch pads, but I don't believe it's the software that's at fault...
