AP • Wild Swans — Up Close & Personal!

These may just well prove my perversions to get close, trying

to observe and discover more, see better… always closer. As

I said before, I am not a birder. I'm just a photographer who

likes to see how light is revealing (in this case, through swans)

Mother Nature's "nature".

A simple and commun bird under Her light turns into a sculpture,

a magnificent visual pleasure, an eye candy… to me!

I don't have the words in English, so I will show you what I mean…

C&C welcome… as always!

If personal taste is involved,           Light is free,                       Mother Nature provides the light
discussion is pointless.                   capturing it is NOT.               but talent renders the image.

No problem. :)  It's not just your photography, it's like you have some kind of mystic communication with your subject that makes them give you the best pose........or is it that you have the eye and the timing skill :D There are some exceptional photographers on the other sites I visit and they have fantastic skills, but these images really bring out an emotion of love for and an appreciation of the beauty of another species. ....When I view your images I can see something deeper than  just a picture.....I hope you can understand :) As for myself I can only improve

"…some kind of mystic communication…!

I would like think so but I know it is not true. It is more like

taking the time to see / use the available light on a subject;

having both the bird in the right position and the long lens

to capture the moment… I still experience great difficulties

at being obeyed by wildlife! ;)

When too close, birds are not behaving the same way.

…or is it that you have the eye and the timing skill?

Sure, having an eye for beauty is imperative in any/all cases

but being trigger happy helps too!   ;)

The more one observes, the more precise the observations!

Thanks for your comment!

" peace and calm"?

Well, that's the reasons I started frequenting the marsh in the first place.

My few first visits where without camera and stuff. Progressively, I started

to look more attentively at the habitat, the birds and their behaviour, the

effect of the weather on it all and that light! That crazy light!!!

I went there at the brake of day. in the harsh summer mid-day Sun and at

dawn… then I got hooked. Those who say it is not good to take pictures

in the middle of the day are missing something.

I get on with my working day, still liking what I do… but behind my head,

I am thinking… the marsh.

All very beautiful Kodiak, I think image number 3 is the money shot. ;-)

Thanks Kevin!

Visual arts are a seduction business where a picture may

touch someone for whatever reason but leave an other cold.

It is always cool to see viewers pick their favourite(s)!

Seriously, you're extremely good at this... but then, I think you know that already ;)  Number 3 for me as well - I'm not sure it could've been any more perfect!?!

Glad you like them Matt!

What you see is what I could capture and render. That says

nothing about the shots that were missed being bombed or

flown through, or what not.

I like to think (and that thought drives me on) that the perfect

shot is still out there… waiting to be captured… possibly at

the next visit!
