BigDude55
I REALLY need an "Invert Print" and "Mirror Print" function in Designer - and would be a welcome addition for Photo as well. Having to export a drawing out of AD or AP only to import into CorelDraw for the sole purpose of printing an inverted or mirrored image to make photo-resist stencils is counter-productive and a tremendous waste of valuable time!! I'm sure there are MANY other folks who also have need of this function, and in my humble opinion, would all but eliminate my need for using CorelDraw for anything except exporting a drawing from CDR to another format. (Of course adding that option to the CDR import function would pretty much seal the deal with me and Corel....) Thanks, -DON-
Alfred
Welcome to the Affinity Forums, Don. :) To create a mirror image, you can simply group everything in your design and then flip the group. As for inverting it, assuming you mean swapping black and white, couldn't you just cover the design with a black rectangle whose blend mode is set to 'Contrast Negate'? BigDude55
Thanks for the welcome, Alfred! Happy to be an Affinity user for windows (Design and Photo!) Granted, there are OTHER ways of doing the job (just as there are more ways than one to skin a cat...!) and I could, but it is QUICKER and SIMPLER to click on the options in the print dialogue box when I'm ready to print. Checking the print options to mirror and invert when ready to print means the program does all of the work --- not ME! These are options which I use quite frequently and the "other" guys already have . If I have to go through the iterations of adding boxes here and there, grouping and flipping, etc., by the end of the day I have wasted an hour of time when I have 20 or 30 to do - that hour adds up to a lot of money over the course of a year.... -DON-
Mags1892
Im with BigDude55, most apps have a mirror or emulsion up feature when printing as many printer drivers dont have this function (ricoh 3110 for example). its al well and good doing it it the app but far easier to do it in the print dialogue. You always run a risk of something moving when you flip it in the app.
sportyguy209
Agreed! I just purchased Photo and need to print a bunch of files for Sublimation output. In Photoshop, when I wanted to print, I was able to simply check the Function box to print "Emulsion Down." Having to manually flip each image in Photo is not very practical. This is my first disappointment with the program. Photoshop has a much better print manager than Affinity's use of the Apple Print Manager. I hope they are working on this...
