john7
Much of my printing is in A ratio which isn’t supported. A crop in A ratio that can be dragged landscape or portrait would be very useful as this is the most standard paper size.
Staff MEB Posted December 9, 2016 Staff Share Posted December 9, 2016 Hi john7, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) You can create a custom crop ratio and save it as a preset for later use. Select the Crop Tool, go to the Mode dropdown in the context toolbar and select Custom Ratio. Set the values you want in the input fields, then go to the Mode dropdown again and select Add Preset. Give it a name and it should then appear in the Mode dropdown list. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
john7
Thanks there are two things that could be improved in cropping. A proper built in A ratio cropping as custom needs two, landscape and portrait and secondly the odd need to rotate the image not the cropping box I find most difficult/odd. Why not be able to rotate the cropping as I find in most programs? Found rotate now but cropping isn't very easy to use at all. Luckily I will crop in my RAW program that's easy to use then export. Nikos
Hi john7, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) You can create a custom crop ratio and save it as a preset for later use. Give it a name and it should then appear in the Mode dropdown list. What is not possible currently is to also scale the image to match an absolute crop size. Perhaps you can add a checkbox like: "Use the full image width/height" Say I want to crop to create a background image for my iMac. I want to crop to 16:9 but I know it has to be 5120x2880 pixels. Why not scale the image to be the desired resolution? If I wanted to only crop to a given ratio, why specify the dimensions?
Staff MEB Posted December 9, 2016 Staff Share Posted December 9, 2016 Hi Nikos, Currently the Crop Tool doesn't resize/scale the image simultaneously. This is already in the Common Feature Requests list. Hopefully it will be added in a future update/version.
