GoofyMonkey
Why is the default colour format for a new document with Print as the type, RGB? Shouldn't it default as CMYK? The Press-Ready Preset is, but not the general Print. I think this is just leading more to the conclusion that this app is being aimed at digital designers and really not thinking of print design. Staff MEB Posted November 7, 2014 Staff Share Posted November 7, 2014 Not all print jobs must be in CMYK. Some consumer printers/ print jobs deal better with RGB directly than CMYK. That's why there's two options there. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
GoofyMonkey
Interesting... I've been a designer for 12+ years and NEVER have I ever had a print job that required RGB. Also, when I worked at a commercial printer I rejected every job sent to me in RGB. But hey, "Some consumer printers/ print jobs deal better with RGB". Sure. Staff MEB Posted November 10, 2014 Staff Share Posted November 10, 2014 Yes, some consumer (desktop/inkjet) printers and services may prefer your files be delivered in RGB (color managed) as they do the conversion to CMYK. That's what i meant. For commercial printing you have the Print (Press-Ready) option which defaults to CMYK.
