Staff MEB Posted December 6, 2016 Staff Share Posted December 6, 2016 NOTE: This tutorial is based on the work of @WaveF who first showcased a dynamic chart built in Designer here. Draw a donut with the Donut Tool and create a symbol from it. Drag the symbol to the canvas, stretch it vertically (the whole symbol layer), select the donut shape inside the symbol, turn sync off in the Symbols panel and apply the Rainbow object style to it. Turn sync on again. Select the symbol layer in the Layers panel, press cmd + J to duplicate it and move the duplicate up a little bit (press shift to constrain the movement) dragging it with you mouse, then press cmd + J again a few times to build up the rest as if they were horizontal slices of a cake. You can apply Layer Effects, Blend modes, transparency etc to the symbol to build up different effects. In the case above the symbol on the top uses an additional FX (not synced with the rest of the symbols) to help give it some volume/dimension. The "shadow" on bottom uses a solid grey fill/stroke instead of the Rainbow style. Here's the result.
