List of bugs 43 (Windows)

Recommended Posts

1. Is set 'Flip Horizontal' to 'M' hotkey. But now canvas is not updated corractly when using M key (works ok when using menu Document->Flip horizontal).

2 a.When brush 'Associated tool' is set to smudage brush (in brush preferences), smude is not selected automatically.

2 b.When brush option- 'Blend Mode' is set to 'Normal', it works ok. But in the UI the 'context toolbar'  blending mode is not displayed correctly.

So. eg if I use overlay blend mode, and then switch to brush with 'normal' blend mode (set in brush preferences), the UI is still displaying overlay blend mode (however the brush works as expected - in normal blend mode)

4. When using mirror and going to Liqufy Persona - liqufy effect is flipped.

5. painting with mouse seems to be broken in beta 43 (worked ok previously -when there were rendering bugs of stroke, but at least mouse worked).

Not sure bug:

1. Annoying delay when zooming in/out with space+ctrl + wacom stylus drag. I have to press it slowly, because otherwise it won't zoom, but paint instead. It is not fluid, and breaks my flow...

That is all for now. Thanks for great app!

Is setting zoom with wheel (as I have it) in preferences (Edit/Preferences/Tools) a possible solution for you ? (or wacom tablet disc)

SrPx, my description of zooming problem was bad. There is actually no delay but pressing space+ctrl not always switches to zoom tool. After some more testing I now realize it is because I often press ctrl+space instead of space+ctrl (I'm used to do ctrl+space from all other apps). But I do not see option to edit it in Affinity Photo... I wish there was option to customize more of the hotkeys. Anyway thanks for reply!

Yes, the order of key press and hold does matter (happens to with change of brush size and some others)

I have a small tutorial I did here some time ago, about using special utilities that intercept (without performance loss of any kind) what you press and allow for customized approaches despite of what each software has established. Only a word of warning here: If you forget you have it running, it can happen like happened to me recently, that as forgot it, and I was replacing indeed zoom with  my own preference, later on it affected the preference in AD. Of course, you can activate it or put it off without restarting, has no issues, at all, you only need to be aware that it is on ! An obvious stupid thing but I have my brain often too disperse   ;) :D

Edit: wit this trick, and surely not applying exactly equally as i did it in its day, but using the keys and buttons you prefer, you might find a way to adapt the whole thing to your needs.  I removed it from my signature as I think is best to just get used to AP/AD's ways, in the long term. But i still use the utility for all my other software, works great, and as been years using those without it, I use them without them with no issues. But it speeds up my workflow and make it more enjoyable. So, despite removing from my signature, this tuto, I thought might help in your very case.

Here's the pair of small tuts you would need to read to have it super easy :

Edit: I think I'll just quote myself down below, from an old post I made (IMO, if you read both links, you might end up making your own favorite combination, as that free utility is very flexible, and there's a ton of configurable buttons available in Wacom, from side buttons, to tablet buttons and even the touch ring....(intuos pro)) :

Alfred -and please, excuse everyone else if I have posted this link too much...-  I came up with a solution using certain great utility. I have it set this way permanently for my beta, to change size and smoothness very easily. You might want to give it a try, I explain even the exact settings for the case.

But I strongly recommend that if you want to try it, first read my other post, for another shortcut issue, where I explain it step by step, the usage of this utility (there's no way to get lost  :D, even trying. ) :

Is just a very nice workaround, for a lot of possible shortcut preferences, that combined with the flexibility of an intuos or similar tablet, of having a mouse button or key combination configured in any of your 3 pen buttons, one of the 8 tablet buttons (in an intuos pro), and/or the ring and its options... the possibilities are amazing, and it has made my workflow much more comfortable, otherwise I wouldn't be mentioning it...

Indeed... I myself, I'd just zoom with regular mouse wheel zoom(setting so in AP/AD preferences), is what i do everywhere, as I need my mouse even while painting and modeling. I can understand those willing to only use the pen, and no access to the mouse. Well, yep, in that case you might want to try the above trick.
