Macro recorder? - Limitations?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

It seems there's a bunch of limitations with the macro recorder, or I'm just over optimistic of what I'm expecting it to do.

For example:

I often need to do the following on a long very high res image.

-

flip the layer horizontal

divide the lenght into 12 bits

chop up each bit into it's own layer and call each layer a unique name

Rotate 4 of the layers 180

reposition each layer top left.

Crop the lot so I have "1" tile of the 12 (basically 12 layers on top of each other)

There are definitely limitations, as I wanted to create a macro that exports as png-24, but the macro will not accept export recording.

I'm hoping they will expand the macro functionality in future versions.

You cannot do it yet since all the actions can be performed (even multiple guides creation) but selection tool cannot be recorded...  :(

This can be done, but sounds more a batch job than a pure macro.

You need to go to File > New Batch Job and choose your export format.

You can even bind multiple macros.

Paolo, this is not really a batch job, I just want a one click macro that will export my image as a png-24, in order to reduce the amount of steps required.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood...

Why not using continuos Export check in Export persona?

Could this work for you maybe?

Paolo,

what does the continuous checkbox actually do???  Also, it does not allow me to select it - it remains deactivated?

Thanks.

You have to create a slice to export your content, export it to PNG (or whatever...) and check Continuous Export.

AD will listen any change on your source file, and export it automatically to the folder you have chosen.

Hmm, interesting, but allowing a Macro to simply record that kind of action would be much simpler for the user.

Thank you for the info :)
