Affinity Photo - How do I center text!?

If you mean frame text, use the alignment buttons in the Context toolbar or Paragraph panel. They look like four horizontal lines, spaced to suggest how they align or justify text. The second one, with two longer lines interspaced with two shorter ones centered below them centers the text in the frame.

If you mean centre vertically, we can't (yet).

Vertically, you can just drag a text frame to wherever you want it to be on the canvas -- since the text can overflow out of the bottom of the frame, vertical centering in the frame doesn't have much practical value.

This feature has minimal to none value. If you don't buy the app because of the lack of this feature – well, you don't need Affinity Designer.

Well, I use vertically centered text in some infographics created in InDesign. Of course text boxes in those have also border and fill colour (which are also missing in AD).

And, just in order to ask, you can't imagine a fast and simple way to achieve all that by going a different way? Poor designer …
