DavidW
I was looking to see if I could create a customized tool pallet in AP like I could in the 2-D drafting package AutoCAD 30 years ago. You could create and name multiple custom tool pallets and place any tool that program offered even if they were unrelated. It was very cool and very convenient. I didn't find that but I saw in the helps that the Tool Bar was "Fully" customizable but I misunderstood the word "fully". Is there a way to create custom tool pallets? I'd be happy for now if I could just have a "Zoom to Fit" and "Zoom 1:1" icon. I know the keyboard short cuts for them, just asking. It doesn't seem to be a common feature in photo editing programs but it is in many CAD programs and makes for a very fast workflow. One more thing are there "Tool Tips" available in AP? Some of the icons are meaningless and I don't know what they do unless I click them and even then sometimes I'm not sure.
carl123
Double clicking the magnify icon on the Tool Bar gives, Zoom 100% If working on a photograph - double clicking the picture on the background layer in the layers tab, generally, gives Zoom to Fit To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. DavidW
I see plenty of tooltips here, David. Where are you not seeing them? I thought I used to see them but last night I down loaded the latest release and I don't get any. I looked in the preferences because in some applications you turn them on and off there, but I didn't see anything. At least that answers one question; they are available. but gives rise to another: where are mine? Thanks and thanks for the zoom tip as well. No custom pallets I take it then, eh? Staff MEB Posted November 26, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 26, 2016 Hi DavidW, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) No, there's no custom palettes, but you can customise the main toolbar on top (menu View ▸ Customise Toolbar...) and the toolbar on the left ( menu View ▸ Customise Tools...). Regarding the tooltips, you have to mouse hover the icons a few moments. You can control the delay going to Edit ▸ Preferences, User Interface section, Tooltip Delay. Let me know if the tooltips still doesn't display. DavidW
Ah, my tooltips have returned. I adjusted the delay and they returned, they might have been napping because I parked my mouse on them and they wouldn't show up. Thanks for responding. harrym
Hi David, If you double click on a layer it zooms to the bounding of that layer which is pretty useful. Double click on pan gets you zoom extents (to use an AutoCAD term) Double clicking on magnify gets you 100% There have been a few threads now with similar comments regarding the ability to customise the top tool bar at least. Hopefully it will be considered as windows users tend to assume that kind of customisation is available. Regards
