TonyO
This might already be in here somewhere, but i didn't see a setting for it. When you drag an object off of the page onto he workspace background, the object is hidden behind the gray area, reminiscent of how Photoshop works. Usually in vector drawing apps, the off-page background is an area that you can use as workable space to place extra vectors or elements you want to edit separately or save or use later. I tend to use this area quite a bit, not sure about anyone else. Are you planning an option to allow the gray area to show vectors on top instead of hiding them? Screenshot shows side-by-side with illustrator to demonstrate. I never know if I'm explaining things right, haha! GRScott
I believe DrawPlus had the same things as Illustrator but also had a preview button so you could picture the canvas without the off page workspace showing. That would be nice for Affinity. Staff MEB Posted July 17, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 17, 2014 You're not alone. I use it the same way. I've created a post a few hours before asking exactly why the content placed on the pasteboard area wasn't showing up. Staff MattP Posted July 19, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 19, 2014 Hi guys! This was a decision we made a long time ago... but it doesn't mean it was a fantastic idea, lol! It means changing more than you'd imagine, but there's no reason why it couldn't be made to work... I'll talk to the team about it on Monday :) Cheers, Matt TonyO, GRScott and Doc Pixel
retrograde
Hey Matt how did that discussion go? As I work in Designer I keep wanting to drag things off the page to save for use later or whatever... I'm almost thinking of storing bits and pieces on a separate, hide-able layer. Not ideal but well sometimes large, complex illustrations get messy and you need a place to put things while you work. Staff MattP Posted August 11, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 11, 2014 I am going to look at this - as I mentioned before, there's actually more than you'd imagine involved in making this actually work, but I'll sort it out when I have chance :)
rui_mac
I know exactly how difficult that may be.One thing that may help is to define a limit to the space around the page that serves as pasteboard. A good size is a full page all around. Meaning that the actual page is centered in a space of 3x3 page-size areas.
