hugo_555
Please help! I've just purchased affinity and have been working through the tutorials. I'm completely new to these sorts of progams and really need some help. I've got an image (jpg) of a rustic postcard and i'd like to remove the text on it and just have the blank postcard. However i don't know how to do this. Can anyone help? I've attached a screenshot... Thanks
Staff MEB Posted November 5, 2014 Staff Share Posted November 5, 2014 Hi hugo_555, Welcome to Affinity Forums. Ideally you should use an image editor for that type of task. Affinity Designer is mainly a vector/raster hybrid app, and as such it isn't the most suited app for editing images. We should have a beta of Affinity Photo, our image editing application, before the end of this year. Meanwhile the best advice i can give you is trying to find a similar background to use in your project. There are some good sites providing those type of textures for free. One of the best is Lost and Taken. Check this set here. Hope this helps. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
hugo_555
OK thanks. Is there not a relatively easy way to copy and paste a selected part of the image and place over the top to hide the writing?
Staff MEB Posted November 7, 2014 Staff Share Posted November 7, 2014 You can do that in Pixel Persona using one of the Marquee tools, the Free Hand Selection Tool or the Selection Brush to select an area, then just copy, paste and move it to wherever you want it (don't forget to rasterise the layer first if needed). You can even create/attach a mask to smooth out/blend the borders a little better, but that's it. There's no specific tools like clone, patch or healing tools found in Photoshop and other similar image editing software. Those should be available in Affinity Photo available as a beta later, this year. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
