I´m sorry - but I can´t help you any further.

You definitely need Japanese text handling inside Affinity apps and I can´t  tell if there are any plans for that.

As much I love and use Japanese woodworking tools (Dozuki, Kataba, Ryoba, Kanna etc) the "Requirements for Japanese Text Layout" are something special as I´m from the other side of this planet. ;):D

All the best and with kindest regards.

No worry,  I'll keep pushing the dev team to implement full multilingual capability into Affinity.
Thank you for giving me the tip, anyway.

How to rotate seperate text?

Hello @cc7,

as was pointed out in the above thread rotation of single glyphs is not possible with in e.g. a text line. So there is no setting in the character panel.

What you can do is to

  • copy a single glyph from your text and paste it as a seperat text object into your layout
  • rotate it according to your liking
  • cut this single glyph and
  • paste into the other text at the place where it is supposed to be

Basically this single glyph is a seperate textobject within your text flow.

This also works with multiple glyphs and you still can edit them inline.

See attached sample file.
