Ok, I am using PS CS2 and when I open an image I get a separate window  then when I open another image it goes into another window

Thus I have the two images displayed at once and can cut and paste etc. between without all this tabbing and dragging.

All loaded images go into separate windows which I find much easier to control than the current Ability method.

That an old macOS thing, and even now, they're moving away from it.

On the Mac, it's not exactly an "old thing". It's the standard way, that can be flanked, when needed, buy a tabbed mode. As for me, I can't imagine working on several documents (for example, an original and some copies I'm editing, or the source and the target text I'm translating) in tabbed mode.
