Sunset
This was originally an exercise to use the Asset Manager which I love to bits, it lets my play with parts of buildings just like I used to play with my Bayko Building set a few years ago (before the days of Lego houses) and save the parts to rearrange them into a different building another day. Great fun! However, it is Hallowe'en tomorrow night, so I have to do my bit..... Alfred
It's like a standard 12" square scrapbook page saved at 300dpi, so it's hardly surprising that it opens so big! ;) I don't know how you ended up with such a huge file size, though, if you really did save it at a quality setting of only 50%. Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)
Sunset
It's all vector, no raster, and the original jpeg size would have been over 6Mb. I'll have a look at it later. I did make it 12x12, always playing around in that size in case I can use some of the objects in CA another day. peter 1 Quote MacBook Pro 11,2, Intel i7 4 core, 8Gb RAM, Graphics Intel Iris Pro. iPad Pro 11.4, 256Gb, 10.5 Retina, A10X Fusion chip, Apple pencil Desktop upgraded to Win10 64-bit, Intel i5 quad core, 8Gb RAM, NVIDIA GefORCE GT730 The Win-10 laptop is on permanent loan to my daughter...... Alfred
I prefer version 1! The pixel dimensions of the new version are still the same, and you've only saved about 400 KB on the size of the attached file. The pixel dimensions of the new version are still the same, and you've only saved about 400 KB on the size of the attached file. The difference in the original file is more dramatic, down from 25.6Mb to 2.6Mb. I shall have to play around with reducing the size of the canvas, perhaps, for posting here. retrograde
Hi Sunset, fun piece! What I usually do to get around all of the potential sizing issues for posting here in the forum is I just zoom the view of the piece on my screen to something suitable and then I take a screenshot and post that. Rather than export it at it's actual size. It's quick and simple, nice and light. :) That way you can do the wires view or any zoomed in views you want to show as well. I'm glad you suggested that, it crossed my mind this afternoon (after my last post) as it's a method I use elsewhere quite often. I haven't posted on here for a long while and must have forgotten about the large views if the "thumbnails" are clicked on :D :D :D Thanks - fun is what I do best :) Quote MacBook Pro 11,2, Intel i7 4 core, 8Gb RAM, Graphics Intel Iris Pro. iPad Pro 11.4, 256Gb, 10.5 Retina, A10X Fusion chip, Apple pencil Desktop upgraded to Win10 64-bit, Intel i5 quad core, 8Gb RAM, NVIDIA GefORCE GT730 The Win-10 laptop is on permanent loan to my daughter...... MikeW
And the fact that the image is in CMYK format balloons its size. Here's a JPG of the first image that has been rescaled to something sensible and changed to RGB for the forum...
Sunset
That is very helpful, thank you for that. MikeW
Hi Sunset, there are 3 channels of color in an RGB image, 4 channels in a CMYK image. So a CMYK image creates a 33% larger file size. But aside from that, it was the shear dimensional size of the file.
Sunset
I'm used to doing 12x12inch scrapbook pages, the sites where I normally post them scale them down automatically (with an option to view at a larger size), so it is not usually a problem at all; the forum thumbnails are really too small to be useful (I find) so I need to do things a little differently. Thanks for clarifying the reason for the increased size, definitely an oversight on my part to use CMYK, as I don't create for print :D Quote MacBook Pro 11,2, Intel i7 4 core, 8Gb RAM, Graphics Intel Iris Pro. iPad Pro 11.4, 256Gb, 10.5 Retina, A10X Fusion chip, Apple pencil Desktop upgraded to Win10 64-bit, Intel i5 quad core, 8Gb RAM, NVIDIA GefORCE GT730 The Win-10 laptop is on permanent loan to my daughter...... MikeW
Yeah, just saving the same image as RGB creates a file at 1/3 the KBs. So down from 3.11 megs to 1.15 megs. Resizing in an image application to 640 pixels square lowers that 1.15 megs to 64k. Which makes for browsing on a forum using a mobile so much nicer... Looks like you're having fun with AD. We're just getting ready for the kiddies (it's 4:30 pm here).
