safoster71
question, is it possible, after using the pen tool to mask something, to then invert that mask? i.e. draw an outline around an object, select "mask" (when you have the pen tool selected) and then be able to "flip" or mask the opposite (whats outside the shape instead of whats inside the shape)? help? :-)
Staff MEB Posted October 29, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 29, 2016 Hi safoster71, There's no way to invert a vector mask directly. You have to create a shape with the size of the document manually and subtract the path you have drawn with the Pen Tool then drag it over the image thumbnail in the Layers panel. Alternatively convert the path to a Selection instead then click the Mask button on the bottom of Layers panel to create a raster based mask. Don't forget to deselect the pixel selection. Then to invert the raster based mask, select it in the Layers panel clicking on its thumbnail and press cmd + I (or go to menu Layer -> Invert).
