Export EPS needs preview

Recommended Posts

When a file is exported to EPS, it does not enclose a tiff/jpg preview. Older versions of QuarkXPress requires this. This is the only reason why I still have to keep Illustrator around. Since this is part of the EPS format specs, I posted it as a bug and not a feature request.

Actually, according to the EPS specification, the preview is optional. I think most people would not want it, to minimise file sizes. It's certainly a reasonable feature request to add it, though.

If its optional, maybe one could tick a checkbox when saving/exporting eps, and default could be off for those who care about file size. As in Illustrator, it uses a jpg and the quality of the preview can be selected, so if one would have preview with low file size, then one can just dial down the quality.
