Tom Nielsen
I may be fairly stupid - but I see no effect of the tool 'Unsharp Mask' - just see the enclosed screenprint - I no doubt do something wrong, but exactly what? Staff MEB Posted October 18, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 18, 2016 Hi Tom Nielsen, Is the layer you are trying to apply the filter labelled as an (Image) layer type in the Layers panel (after the layer's name between parenthesis)? If so, right-clik on it and select Rasterise... from the contextual menu to convert it to a (Pixel) layer type. You can then apply the filter as usual. Fixx
Live filters, unsharp mask included, work fine for [image] layers, if it suits your work flow. Ps. There certainly should be some indicator that action/filter/whatever is NOT applicable when it is targeted to object it possibly cannot affect. Staff MEB Posted October 19, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 19, 2016 The filter being applied in this case was a regular filter so it will not work with (Image) layers without the conversion. Even so, Affinity Photo should have converted the (Image) layer to a (Pixel) layer automatically but for some reason it didn't happen here, assuming this is the cause of the problem. Fixx
Yes, I failed to mention that live filter is an alternative, different filter/menu but same effect. There are some drawbacks converting to pixel layer, like losing nondestructive features in transformations... and I still do not know what resample method conversion uses.
