PhotographerBerlin
I just tried to install Affinity Photo on my macbook air, but I get an error message, that this file will damage my computer. Anybody an idea?
VIPStephan
Nothing else in that message? Hmm, given that it’s distributed via the App Store I suppose the security setting shouldn’t matter but perhaps it’s still worth to try to change the settings for downloaded apps: System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > Allow applications downloaded from > Anywhere (Systemeinstellungen > Sicherheit > Allgemein > Apps-Downloads erlauben von > Keine Einschränkungen) PhotographerBerlin
Staff MEB Posted October 17, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 17, 2016 Hi PhotographerBerlin, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) The retail version is installed by the App Store app itself so i believe you're referring to the Trial. Have you downloaded it from Affinity's official site? If not i advise you to sign-up here and download it from the link that will be sent to your e-mail. PhotographerBerlin
Thanks for the answer. Yes , it is the trial, and I downloaded it from the link I got in the mail. I changed the security settings, but doing that, makes not the best feeling ;-) Hope, Affinity does not give any malware to the users ;-)
Staff Chris B Posted October 18, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 18, 2016 Hey PhotographerBerlin, You definitely won't get malware from us. This is just standard practice when downloading an application that isn't from the store. You should be able to choose 'Open Anyway' from the Preferences when attempting to open Affinity when you are set to 'Mac App Store'. VIPStephan
Also, I just seem to remember now that you don’t need to change the security setting to open unverified applications. I think you can hold Alt or Option while opening it to allow it despite strict security settings.
R C-R
In OS X if Gatekeeper is set to reject all except MAS apps, you can right click on a downloaded app & choose "Open" from the contextual menu that pops up. This brings up a dialog box that warns you that the app did not come from MAS but allows you to open it anyway if you want. Do that once & the app is removed from the quarantined list & will open in the future without having to repeat that process. Also, since the trial version is signed, if you use the Security & Privacy preference setting to allow apps from both MAS & identified developers, you won't see the warning message & the app will open normally.
