font baseline alignment in AD

I am unsure of what you are asking about.

 

If you are asking about the first line of a text frame having the options of say cap height, ascent or cap + ascent, then I think the answer is no...there is only cap + ascent (at least as far as I can see).

If you mean snapping the baseline of one Frame text object's text to that of another, snapping does do that, but only to the default baseline, not to any adjustments you make in the Characters panel ... I think.

From what I can tell, Affinity's arrangement options only work on the bounding boxes of both frame & art text objects. However, the snapping feature works on text baselines so it should be possible to use a combination of the two features to get this kind of alignment, although it will require extra steps.

Yes, that does work...it's a bit touchy to hit the snapping, but does work.

 

For paragraph text, especially if the text sizes are different or different fonts, one needs to ensure that leading values (and space before/after) are set to the same values (discrete values, not Auto).
