TonyO
Currently, a single click on a line with the editing tool adds a node to the line. This can be slightly disruptive, accidental single clicks result in extra nodes that need to be deleted. Corel Draw has a novel approach to this, instead of a single click on the line, you double click to add a node to a line, and another double click on any node will delete it. This function makes mouse edits quick and intuitive because the same action both adds and deletes, and keeps mistakes at a minimum since a double click is harder to accidentally input than a single click. Staff MattP Posted July 11, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 11, 2014 Hi Capeman :) It's a completely valid observation you've made - and really the only reason that we don't do this is simply because a lot of professionals use tablets and it's actually pretty annoying/fairly tricky to try to double-click on the exact spot where you wanted to insert a node. If you make a node by accident (which I generally don't - but I appreciate we all use the app differently) then just hitting Cmd+Z to undo will sort things out properly. TonyO
Thanks for your reply! I've been waiting for a Mac vector drawing app that has proper node/bezier editing for a long time, and Designer is just about perfect!!! Up to this point I've had to resort to virtualizing CorelDraw on VMWare with all the terrible performance you'd expect. As for the double vs single click for editing, maybe this would be an option to add to preferences? Default to 1 click, but allow the option for double? Every user who has been waiting for a good replacement to coreldraw in their mac workflow would send virtual hugs for that one. If it's too much trouble though, i can adapt, hahaha! You definitely gained a customer either way when the full app is launched! Thanks!! Staff MattP Posted July 11, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 11, 2014 A preference to switch between the two sounds like a great idea - I'll see about adding it when I get chance :) TonyO and Nemysys

folivio
Wow, using a tablet for professional drawing... Does that mean there will be a mobile version of Affinity? Maybe I'm missing something but how many desktop programs run on a tablet? I mean, 16-64GB of total storage is minuscule when one looks at the typical system requirements for a graphic design program. Will it be an online app? If so, that might present a problem for "professionals" I would think. On the node add/delete feature, I'm 100% with capeman. I use CorelDraw, Illustrator and DrawPlus. I much prefer the double-click approach. Anything that keeps my hands off the keyboard while designing, I'm in favor of. Question regarding the node edit function in Affinity. Will the user be able to drag-select nodes in a free-form manner, or will it be restricted to rectangular selection only?

Nemysys
A preference to switch between the two sounds like a great idea - I'll see about adding it when I get chance :) In my opinion, most items should have a preference if there is more than one way to do it.
