AD doesn't include any fonts. They are provided by the system. Installed fonts have various copyright protections, so you would have to check with the owner of each font if there is any question about that.

Hi charlee,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Affinity Designer/Photo doesn't come with any fonts. The ones you see inside the program are those that are available on your system for all applications (that come with the OS or were installed by other third-party apps). What you can do with them depends on each font license.

You can get some free (for commercial use - check their license first) from sites like Font SquirrelGoogle Fonts, or Fontfabric (not all are free here), or buy them (commercial fonts) from sites like MyFontsFontShopLinotype etc. To install them you can use Font Book app that comes with your Mac (instructions here) or use a third-party font manager like FontExplorer or Extensis Suitcase Fusion.

Thank you MEB :). So the fonts that are already on there (Affinity Designer) came from my own mac computer, was what I already had right? So then to be safe I can't use them...I will need to buy commercial fonts. Ok, I tried to install new fonts but had no luck. I will try font book like you suggested thank you again!

@mac_heibu

According to the software license agreement for macOS Sierra that depends on each font:

E. Fonts. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, you may use the fonts included with the Apple Software to display and print content while running the Apple Software; however, you may only embed fonts in content if that is permitted by the embedding restrictions accompanying the font in question. These embedding restrictions can be found in the Font Book/Preview/Show Font Info panel.

If a font doesn’t allow embedding, it normally can’t be embedded. Fonts have an "embed flag" for this reason to allow or forbid embedding.

If you are able to embed a font, it is normally allowed to do so. Or are you –according to "Show Font Info Panel" aware of a system font, which doesn’t?
