Mvdarbs
Hi Folks, Me again.... This time I am after some advice for colouring an object. I have created an object and it will have a single solid colour, however the top of the shape needs to be different colour. there is a break between the two. I have attached an image to show you what I am on about. Any ideas for the best way to go about changing the colour of the top section? paolo.limoncelli
The easiest way is to use the outer geometry (filled with blue) as clipping shape for the top section (filled with white). It can be done via layer palette nesting the top section under the outer shape. Another approach could be by operations (booleans), but it could turn quite tricky since we cannot use a path to cut a closed shape yet. In this case you have to use the same shapes (not nested), select them then hit the Divide command, and remove the unwanted shapes. Mvdarbs
Ah now I get it, I was going to try going down the Boolean approach too. Thanks again MEB, those short videos are a great idea! Thanks Mark
Staff MEB Posted October 6, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 6, 2016 Yes, you can also perform an intersect boolean operation between the two shapes. It's up to you. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
