njakeman
Hi, Is it possible to use a closed curve/polygon in a vector layer to create a selection area that can then be used to clip a pixel layer? I have got an .ai file from a designer with shapes in it that I need to use as templates for multiple crops of a raster image, that will then be used to assemble a new composite. e.g. in the attached SS I want to create a selection area using the selected white polygon... Possible?
Chris_K
Hi njakeman Converting vector paths to selections is a feature in Photo, but unfortunately not one in Designer at this point. Obviously I;m not aware of what your end goal is so this is only a suggestion, but you can drag the vector shape on top of the pixel layer in the layers tab and it will automatically clip to the pixel layer and create a vector mask Cheers Quote Serif Europe Ltd - Check the latest news at www.affinity.serif.com

njakeman
Chris_K thanks - I may have posted to the wrong forum then! My question was actually regarding Photo. Still not sure how to complete this action though? Could you describe?
Staff MEB Posted October 6, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 6, 2016 Hi njakeman, Assuming you have a vector object (to use as a clipping object) and an image, you only have to drag the image over the vector object in the Layers panel. Here's a small clip (no sound) showing how to do it. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
