I have a stitched panorama made up of 10 shots.

On screen  the document is 26497px  x 5957 px  at 96 dpi

I want to resize it for printing to 18ins x 4.1ins at 300 dpi

Every time I try to resize it the result appears VERY pixelated.

Can anyone please give me step by step instruction to achieve this please.

Document > Resize Document

Keep resample tick on

Change Resample: to something else than default Nearest neighbour. Lanczos non-separable maybe (there has been some discussion what is best but no definitive answer)

Change Units to inches

Enter first size field 18

As aspect ratio is locked by default height value changes automatically when

Change dpi to 300

Click Resize

Check you got it right as Resize tools are not as fool proof as in other professional softwares.

Your document will get much smaller, do not save over the original. Height will be less than 4.1 inches, if you need to have 4.1 you have to crop width accordingly (which is something like exercise in logic too).

If the height is 4.1", the width at the same aspect ratio will be 18.24" instead of 18". At 300 dpi, this is 5471 pixels instead of 5400 pixels, so you will need to crop the width by 71 pixels. smartass.gif

Thanks Guys,I will try again.

Just to add a bit to my original problem....

If I zoomed in on the original document 26497x5957 at 96 dpi the picture was good and sharp.

If I zoomed in again after resizing to 18in. X4in at 300 dpi then the picture was pixelated

Will keep you posted.

What resampling method did you choose, Sam, and how far are you zooming in? If you're resizing from 27000 × 6000 pixels down to only 5400 × 1200 pixels, you're throwing away a huge amount of data.
