steric
Although I have had Affinity Designer since the day it came out I definitely consider myself a novice user. When I use Artistic Text Tool the box is always a lot bigger than the font itself. It starts out with all of the extra space underneath the bottom of the font. I found a function called baseline that allows me to move the text within the box up and down within the box. However, how do I shrink the box so it better fits the actual size of the font instead of having so much extra room?
Staff MEB Posted September 30, 2016 Staff Share Posted September 30, 2016 Hi steric, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) The space below and above the fonts is a "property" of the font itself. Currently there's no way to center the text vertically inside the text frame keeping it editable (if you convert it to curves then it will act as you want, removing the space and centering the text). This was already requested quite a few times and may be implemented in a future version. Staff TonyB Posted September 30, 2016 Staff Share Posted September 30, 2016 The box is just shown in the tool and doesn't draw on your document. The box in calculated from the Font information but it shouldn't normally cause an issue. If your problem is snapping the baseline on the text then the current Beta will help with this but the actual box is still the same size.
