Affinity for Windows and Mac

Recommended Posts

I have both Affinity for Windows and Mac and they are so different.

The windows version keeps stalling and is very slow and frustrating to the point that I want to delete it.

I am running windows 10.

Is there any chance that it will be improved and more like the Mac version?

Hi EKS,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

The Mac version was released (almost) two years ago so it's more developed/polished that the current Windows version which wasn't even released yet. They both have the same features/functionality but the Windows version is still in development (Beta) so it's expected that there's some bugs/performance and other issues to solve/fix. Hopefully it will get as good as the Mac as we move forward with the development.

Has there been no updates to this programme to download?

It is the most frustrating programme ever with its constant stopping and very slow working ability.

it does not have the same capabilities as the one for Mac that I have found nor the same tools, unless I am missing something.

While I am running windows 10 it was the same on windows 8 - slow, frustrating and very annoying.

When I bought it I wasn't aware that it was still in development/Beta mode.

I have had it about a year now and wish I just bought Adobe.

Unless it gets updates soon I will have to abandon it and not recommend it to anyone.

I know this is not what you want to hear but I really wished I hadn't bought it and feel I was mislead in that I believed it was a fully developed programme.

Hi EKS,

Only the Windows version is still in development. I believe you aren't using the latest Windows Beta. You can download it from here (Beta 1.5.0.17).

What you have bought was the Mac version which is complete/finished and being sold since it was released two years ago. The Windows version isn't available for purchase yet since it's still being developed.

Where did you buy Affinity Designer for Windows? You should only download it directly from the Affinity Designer on Windows Beta forum on this site, where it is free for anyone to download & try out, & only after making sure you have read & understood the comments about it in the topic with the download link.

If you bought it from some outside vendor, you got ripped off, & you may have downloaded a version containing malware.

All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V23.0 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7
Affinity Photo
1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7

Possibly my fault here.

I am talking about Affinity PHOTO, not designer, sorry.

I have never used the designer as didn't know about it or what it does.

Can I get Affinity PHOTO BETA version here and if so can I have a link to it please.

Sorry if I am the cause of confusion here. I like the Mac version so if the windows 10 version is as good I will be very happy.

Thanks.

Hi EKS,

This depends on your OS X settings.

You should receive a notification in the Mac App Store app when there's updates available for download. However it only installs them automatically if you have Install app updates in the App Store section on OS X Preferences checked (see screenshot).
