Setting up Template for Merch by Amazon t-shirt design

Recommended Posts

I just watched this Youtube Video about how to set up an Illustrator template for designing t-shirts for Merch by Amazon. The setup in Photoshop should be:

 15"W x 18"H @ 300ppi (i.e. 4500 x 5400 pixels), sRGB, less than 25MB.

So in the video, he says that Illustrator has PPI and Photoshop has DPI and so he sets the Illustrator document at 1080 by 1296 @ 300ppi and then says that it will export to the correct size for Photoshop (to 4500 x 5300 pixels @ 300ppi)

So he exports the Illustrator document (set at 1080 x 1296) as a png, opens it up in Photoshop and the dimensions are now 4500 x 5300).

I tried this with Affinity Designer and Photo and the dimensions stayed the same. So do I not have to do this with Affinity?

Should I just set up my template in Designer at 15"W x 18"H @ 300ppi (i.e. 4500 x 5400 pixels), sRGB,  and then export to png?

Hope this isn't too confusing.

Hi chbrier,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Just set the dimensions as specified in the official page here -  5"W x 18"H @ 300ppi (i.e. 4500 x 5400 pixels), sRGB - don't forget to check Transparent Background -  in the New Document dialog and you are set. When you have finished the design export the file as a PNG-24.

I have a few questions in regards to the printing settings for Amazon Merch.

In Doc Properties should I:

Select print or print (Press Ready)?

Which is the colour format and profile I should use?

Also would the image be better in 400DPI or should I just stick to 300DPI?  :)

Exporting should be done as PNG-24 but do i need to change the resampler or anything?

Sorry to bombard you with so many questions.

A big thanks in advance  :D
