friendlydragon
Is it possible to include a preview in Affinity Draw files so they can be imported into and displayed in Media Pro catalogues?
Staff Lee D Posted September 20, 2016 Staff Share Posted September 20, 2016 Hi friendlydragon, Welcome to the forums. Our developers currently have no plans to make our file format public, we also have plans to release our own Digital Asset Manager app sometime in the future. Fixx
Affinity apps make perfect previews which display nice in OSX quick look. MediaPro should be able to use them I think.
friendlydragon
I've been using MediaPro for years — since it was iView, in fact, so I'm not about to willingly switch allegiance to a new Asset Management tool! Yes, OSX QuickLook displays previews fine, but MediaPro doesn't. I checked the Importers menu, and Affinity and .afdesign are not listed. Maybe I don't have the latest version of Affinity Designer — I'm using v1.4.2 but I'm not being offered any upgrades.
R C-R
The latest version is 1.4.3, but all it does is fix a few compatibility issues with macOS 10.12 Sierra. Go to App Store on the Apple menu & click on the Updates tab to get it. OSX QuickLook works perfectly, but MediaPro can't even import Affinity files without a preview — which honestly would be enough for me. I'd be happy if just the file name appeared and the Affinity logo, so I could access the file from the catalogue...
Fixx
MediaPro support maybe can do something, after all it is a MediaPro problem if they cannot read files and previews.
Antonioni
I agree this can be a problem in ones workflow. I also use MediaPro as my prime filemanager and use it most of the time as the starting point to open files I am working on. To overcome the problem of not importing Affinity files into MediaPro I use the export function of Affinity. I make a secondary file as a png, jpeg or pdf (whichever is the smallest). These will be imported by MediaPro and will give you acces to your files if you keep 'm in the same folder.
