MarkkuM
Recently I ran into a problem with a textured brush preview in large sizes. A large brush with a texture obstructs the view and trying to see where the cursor actually points is almost a guesswork. At the moment there doesn't seem to be a way to change a brush preview into a less obstructing icon. I would like there to be a way to change brush preview into a crosshair and back. If I remember rightly, Photoshop has that action in Caps Lock key. Now that I think of it, the brush size selector could also work well as an alternative brush preview. And another thing: if the user likes the alternative icon more than regular preview, it would be nice if it could be set permanently in Preferences. pixelmonkey
Hi, this is one of the first things I noticed when taking the raster brushes for a spin. It is impossible to work without getting rid of the brush preview. A single pixel pixel or a cross hair is what's needed. I am used to concepting in corel painter or Photoshop - just a cross hair or a pixel - the less obtrusive the better. keiichi77
Staff MEB Posted December 16, 2016 Staff Share Posted December 16, 2016 Hi MarkkuM, pixelmonkey, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) You can turn the Brush preview off going to Affinity Designer/Photo Preferences, User Interface and unchecking Show brush previews (there's currently no way to toogle this setting on the fly through a shortcut). There's also a setting there to Always show brush crosshair. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
keiichi77
Turning off brush preview only turns off the dynamic preview, but the large preview-cursor still remains. on a cintiq I don't even need cursor. I can't see what I am doing. ...and the fuzzy texture cursor moving on the canvas causes eye strain. whitehead

The brush preview remains...and doesn't match the size of the brush mark created. Any thoughts on why this would be happening?
