Escondido
Hi, I'm new to Affinity Designer - I've downloaded the free trial and am having success with learning the program. My problem is when I try to export my file to .pdf or .tiff I lose the document settings. I customized my document to be 58" x 36" at 300 dpi. When I export it changes to 96 dpi and 13" x 8" size. It was suggested to me I download Adobe Illustrator to try to convert the file at the correct, original settings. I've tried Illustrator and gave up after a few days' trial as it was not nearly as intuitive for a beginner as AFD, however it is essential for my work to find an app that I can export correctly to my printer. Would you kindly walk me through the steps. thank you for the help!
Staff Lee D Posted September 8, 2016 Staff Share Posted September 8, 2016 Hi Escondido, Welcome to the forums. I can't seem to reproduce the issue you are having, I created a document 58" x 36" and set it to 300dpi. Once I had exported to PDF I ran it through a preflight check using Acrobat Pro and nothing flagged as being below 300dpi, the document size was also the same. Would it be possible for you to send me a link to your file so I can take a look myself? Regards L
Escondido
Hi Lee, Thanks for your help. I've attached the file for you to check my document settings. (I'd appreciate if you would delete the file after problem is solved.) I misspoke earlier. The problem occurred when I tried to export to jpeg. The file 'shrunk' to 13" x 8" and 96 resolution, 1280 px x 795 px The acceptable files I need to be able to export to are JPEG, TIFF and PDF. I wold greatly appreciate your help figuring out how to correctly export in these file formats. thankyou! Staff Lee D Posted September 9, 2016 Staff Share Posted September 9, 2016 Hi Escondido, Thanks for the file, I've tested exporting to JPEG,PDF and TIFF and all export correctly, none have reduced in size or quality. When exporting are you changing any of the options?
Escondido
No, I'm not changing any options (that I"m aware of). I'm using version 1.4.2 - not sure this matters? I"ve attached a screenshot of settings when I export for you to review. I'm aware this is so basic for you, yet I appreciate the help and teaching here.
