Schubi63
Hi MEB :D Now that I know that I have to use layers to organize my files. At least it works much easier for me because of the selection issue we talked about here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/24436-select-object-instead-of-its-parent-group/ I would really like to see a functionality to convert a group into a layer and vice versa. (As long as there is no "select object" ...) ...it could be helpful if you have to re-think and or reorganize all of your former work (imported .PSDs, etc). ;) Thanks a lot, Stefan Quote Affinity Designer | Affinity Photo | Affinity Publisher macOS Sierra 10.13.6; MacBookPro (13 inch, Early 2015); 3.1 GHz i7 CPU; 16 GB RAM
Staff MEB Posted September 5, 2016 Staff Share Posted September 5, 2016 Hi Stefan, This is "partially" available. Check menu Layer ▸ Promote Group to Layer. You can set up a shortcut for it in Preferences, Keyboard Shortcuts section. There's no command for the inverse operation. jdobalaguer
Hi, bringing this topic back a few years later... I find the promote group to layer extremely useful. Is there a reason why the inverse operation does not exist? It would definitely improve my workflow, so I'm not sure if a) I'm not using this feature the "right way", b) the inverse operation has been added since the beginning of this thread, or c) it just hasn't been a top priority to add this in. Is there a way I can add this as a feature request? Keep the good work up! Your apps are amazing! jAffinitySerif and OdFori
jAffinitySerif
I am also wondering why there is a command to convert groups to layers but not to convert layers to groups. The current operation involves several clicks and drags.
