Hello--I want to create a vector text headline to use in a design which I'll enlarge and print on fabric. Like a T shirt, I guess. I'd like to use my own handwriting but I don't know how to vectorise it in Affinity Design? Any tips? I'm avoiding the pen tool as I'm so rubbish at it. Thanks for any advice.

I don't think AffDesigner can do vectorizing  (yet ????.....).

You could try Super Vectorizer, there's a free version.(not available through the AppStore)

Have you tried writing your text, scanning it in, loading the scanned pic into Super Vectorizer, save as SVG

Instead of Super Vectorizer, you could also use Inkscape. Also save as SVG.

Good Luck !

If you have a graphics tablet, you could 'write' with the Vector Brush Tool.

Hi cannmcgovern,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

You can also use a service like Vector Magic to upload and convert your image into vectors.

If you want to trace it manually the Pen Tool is the most precise option. There's a in depth article (with videos) explaining how to use it in Affinity Review issue#1 (our eZine), starting on page 39 (Feature Focus). Only the iBooks version contains video, so make sure you get that instead of the PDF. You can download Affinity Review from here.

I have Inkscape, but haven't used it much. I get better and easier output from the Mac app, Image Vectorizer, $5,than what I get from Inkscape. My results from Inkscape had far too many nodes. It was rather "blurry" compared to what I got from IV in about 3 seconds.
