PDF export unexpectedly rasterized

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure whether this is a bug or just how AD works, but let me share this :)

I was exporting a two-page PDF (two artboards). Mix of text, shapes and images. Although I selected "Text as curves" in the export options, the second page was always exported as raster. The whole page! Strange enough, the first page was fine. I couldn't figure out, why this was happening and then it hit me: I forgot a "Selective Colour Adjustment" layer way down the second artboard (under all the other elements in it). Obviously, this color correction layer (although not affecting visually anything) forced the exported page to be rasterized as one image in the resulting PDF. Once I deleted this layer, the second page was exported in curves, as expected.

Hopefully it helps others :)

Lojza,

I'm glad that you pointed this out. I ran into a similar issue a few weeks ago. I accidentally hit the "command + M" shortcut and the Curves dialog came up. I never used it, I simply closed it without making any adjustments or anything. Little did I know that it caused the elements that were selected when I brought up the Curves dialog to be rastered when I exported it to PDF. As well, I was in the Draw Persona only. I'd like to see this behaviour changed if possible because it could cause some serious headaches. I talked about it here as well, https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/22148-command-m-is-curves/
