Kim Holst
Hello, I'm new here. I would like to create "frames" on my photos sometimes. Can be simple lines or more complex. Have I just not found the tools in Affinity Photo or should I work in Designer? I have attached an example (A screenshot from Flickr. Not my work, but an inspiration) I would like to keep the image resolution intact. Keeping the photo as the main thing, but adding graphics to support it. Best regards Kim Holst DK

Kim Holst
Thanks Callum :-) Fine tutorial for that kind of frames, and I'm sure I'll be using that. But I'm still uncertain about the other kind, like the image I attached was an example of. Where the "frame" is more or less advanced graphics placed on the image. I'll attach two more examples here. One quite simple, the other more complex.

Alfred
I'll attach two more examples here. One quite simple, the other more complex. And the other I think you forgot to press the 'Attach This File' button. (A crucial step which is very easily overlooked!) Kim Holst
Oh, yes, sorry :-) thanks for helping
anon1
you can make some rectangles, merge visible them into a single pixel layer and then use the filter "Filter > distort > rectangular to polar" this gives nice rounded shapes like in the top post, you can do this several times and also fill the rectangles with gradients prior to rasterizing them you can also take this pixel layer into the liquify persona to take it even further you can then just layer these distorted rectangles on top of your image
Kim Holst
There's a lot I don't understand about the possibilities of layers, but it sounds like I have to dive into it :-) Thanks for replying. I think I understand that you say it can be done within Photo, that I don't need Designer to get there?
anon1
sure enough you can also use the pen tool and draw the shapes, fill them with color, gradients or pictures and even tweak the lines cause they remain as vector shapes no you definitely don´t need designer

Kim Holst
Spiral maybe not solved, but certainly started :-) Started with a line. Added twirl filters as needed. max value on both sliders. Screenshot attached.
