Affinity designer - object selection marquee

Recommended Posts

So this is probably a very well trodden path, but I kinda feel it's an important thing to bring up for less obvious reasons.

I'm aware that in the preferences you can swap object selection behaviour to selecting objects that intersect with the selection marquee(What a mouthful) but I feel that this option should be switched around, so intersection selection is the default and the alternative is the option to be toggled. Simply to make thing a little easier on pro adopters.

I'm fairly evangelical when it comes to Affinity, I had honestly never even intended to switch, but over the last year Affinity Designer has become my go to over illustrator (To the chagrin of many of my colleagues and collaborators) I wax lyrical about its benefits to almost anyone who will listen and feel in some way personally invested in the success of this product.

I've made about a dozen designers download a trial so far (And counting, all of my new employees are forthwith required to install and make use of affinity) and it's these little bits that strangely present the larger hurdles for adoption, in my experience at least. Those immediate impressions on a first time user with many years of muscle memory to undo.

So, it'd be great to get this switched :)
