af-user
It would be nice to have an option for the "default font size". This could also be saved within a document and be set as "advanced options" if one creates a new document. Fixx
Traditionally this has been done by setting size when no document is open (global) and when no object is selected (document-wide).
af-user
Thanks, Fixx. For me (Windows v1.5.0.10) it behaves like this: If I have a document open, the last used font size is saved with the document. If no document is open, I cannot select a font size from the dropdown list, but I can enter a value into the input box. But if I create a new document it always falls back to 12 pt as default. Dave Harris
If you use Edit > Defaults > Save, the current object defaults will become the defaults for new documents. This includes the font size. MattP and CartoonMike
af-user
Thanks, I missed that one! Tried it and it seems a bit buggy for me. It was working for the first time. Right now when I try to save a new size it reverts back to the documents last saved size it seems. I tried to select a Text-Object with the "move tool" (tired it with the "Artistic Text Tool, too"), that has a fontsize of 64 pt. I then clicked on Edit --> Defaults --> Save. If I then switch to the Artistic Text Tool or if it is already in use click out of the current selected object, it reverts back to the document default (in my case currently 10 pt). I had to create a new text object with the new size and then was able to save it as default, it was not working with an existing object. Dave Harris
That's working as intended. The "current object defaults" are different to the "current object's defaults". Selecting a different object does not change the object defaults. To change them, you need to apply a setting, for example by picking 64pt from the text size control. That will cause the next text you create to have a default size of 64pt. This should work whether or not an object is selected. Another way is to select an object that has the settings you want and use Edit > Defaults > Synchronize from Selection (which is also in the main toolbar). Be aware that Art text has separate defaults to Frame text, and both have separate defaults to shapes and curves.
af-user
Aaaah OK, I think I got it now! So the process to update (save) the defaults from a currently selected object would be: select wanted objec --> Edit --> Defaults --> Sync from Selection --> Edit --> Defaults --> Save Maybe it would help to make it more visible if there is a Tooltip or in status bar when hovering "Save" that displays the values that get saved ... only thinking. Thanks for the help!
