Dear Affinity Support Team,

I’m experiencing an issue opening a .afpub file in Affinity Publisher on iPad (latest version, iPadOS updated). The file either doesn't open or crashes the app upon loading. I suspect the document may be too large or contains too many embedded high-resolution images.

Unfortunately, I cannot access the Resource Manager on iPad to troubleshoot or optimize the document.

Could you please advise:

How I can recover or optimize the file for use on iPad?

If it's possible to extract its content or convert it to a lighter version?

If there are any known limitations for file size or number of pages on the iPad version?

File details (approximate):

– Number of pages: [110]

– File size: [30,2 MB]

– Stored in: [iCloud Drive / On My iPad ]

I’d appreciate any help or instructions. Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Daria Malinivska

Hi @Daria Malinivska and welcome to the forums,

Your file initially opens without issue for me on Mac, however, as soon as I select the Рамка + номер сторінки пдф.pdf file in Resource Manager, the Publisher file crashes.

Could you try either renaming or removing the Рамка + номер сторінки пдф.pdf file from the Алла folder so that the link is broken when you open the file? Let us know whether that allows you to open the Publisher file on your iPad.

I think the PDF elements will need to be replaced in the file to prevent it from crashing, as currently, various Masters are showing blank pages from the PDF file.

If you continue to experience the same issue, could you please zip and then upload the files linked below, shown as Missing?
