AnotherAffiniter Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I’m using iPad Air (4th generation). My first problem is that when I’m importing NEF files I get a black screen. I can only resolve it after I develop to raw embedded, exit and then reopen the same file. My second problem is about chromatic aberration that becomes visible after adjusting shadows. It's more a question whether this is expected, and if you have any advice how to solve it. The attached file has visible chromatic aberration around the little boys head after adjusting shadows, even 50% in the develop person persona. NKN_6914.nef Quote
NotMyFault Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Opening your file on my M1 iPad, I don’t get a black screen, so cannot reproduce. And I don’t see relevant (increased) CA in the area. Boosting shadows naturally amplifies any dolor issues, as shadows are encoded with a low number of bits (even in RAW files), and brightening shadows will increase the difference of colors. I recommend to deactivate the pixel grid as it might give wrong impressions. To spot any purple areas which are the typical result of CA or fringing, I added a live hue filter. Those purple areas are still extremely dark, not noticeable for my eyes and I don’t see the need to correct. Note that when using Develop Persona you can activate CA correction manually. Using Split View I was unable to detect any difference between CA on/off. AnotherAffiniter Posted June 27 Author Posted June 27 Thank you, @NotMyFault. The black screen problem happens with other files too. I sometimes don’t get it with this file, so I think it’s the lack of system resources that causes it for me. I appreciate you confirming no difference with CA on and off. I’m a beginner so I thought maybe someone can educate me, perhaps there’s a way to adjust shadows without resulting in this artifact. Quote
