Color Question

[Taxicab Messiah]

I tried implementing a complimentary color for the background of the "Chill Set 9" text.  I used the pastel purple in the rest of the image to measure against.  But I don't think these colors work together at all in this image.  Am I wrong?  I landed on a simple black background on the right.  Which do you prefer.

I think your instinct is correct. (…though I would drop it down a pixel so it doesn’t touch the dot/grid.)
