Hey folks,
Let me start by introducing myself...

Hello, I am Ian Sayers and have recently just started with Affinity as Head of Enablement. - check this link i have literally just posted.

I can assure you 100% that Affinity is not only still here but growing and thriving. I am only in a few weeks so give me a little more time to get my feet under the table and into the processes and working methods, then we can all have some proper fun!

In the meantime, I am happy to connect and chat (as much as possible with the million things to learn and do while joining an amazing company). reach out and connect on my social media accounts or here on the forum. Most things are found under iwsayers or just my name.

I greatly appreciate this forum and everyone that contributes in a helpful manner.

Very best
Ian

We're also planning a 2.6.4 patch starting soon, to address a number of things reported by customers in earlier releases.

Hi @Ian Sayers,

Just wanted to say I'm happy to see you join the team!

I have a few quick questions as I've never heard Head of Enablement before:

- Do you say things like "Let's leverage synergies to drive enablement outcomes"?

- Do you print inspirational posters that say "ENABLE. EMPOWER. EXECUTE."?

- Do you attend meetings to discuss other meetings?

😉

A warm welcome to you!

All the best

Will the update to version 2.6.4 take place in early 2026? I'm asking because I want to hire an employee for my advertising company and I don't know whether to give up on Affinity and send the employee to use CorelDraw or Adobe software. I wouldn't want a new employee to get used to software that may not be developed.

At the moment, there really is such silence that if it weren't for the fact that in this thread, for the first time in a long time, a moderator mentioned something about an update - I would have thought Affinity was dead.

No I want the 2.6.4 beta to start early this month and to be released when we have confidence it has not introduced new regressions

@Patrick Connor you also mentioned 2.6.4 will address issues in earlier releases. Does this mean fixing issues in earlier versions of 2.6 only or does it include fixing issues going back to 2.5 and earlier?

Any bugs and regressions introduced so yes, fixing some issues reported earlier than 2.6

I'm glad that instead of pushing out another update with new features, the decision was made to release a patch to address ongoing issues. It's about time the regressions in the Contour and Expand Stroke tools—introduced back in the 2.5 update—finally got the attention they deserve. These bugs have been around for over a year now 😤😞

Hello Ian,

A wide range of people who want to use Affinity Suite professionally are eagerly awaiting moves in this direction. There are many comments on this forum from people who have an idea of how professional tools should work.

Personally, I really hope that you will be able to add new or improve existing functions that are most needed by professionals. Also, users who use Affinity Suite programs for non-commercial purposes will benefit greatly from this as they start doing their work more efficiently and faster.

For my part, I will gladly share my knowledge to support the development of our favorite programs.

Best regard

George

A warm Greeting to you Ian,

Its nice to hear from a few devs/staff members.

I use Affinity professionally and have been doing my best to enjoy its benefits. I look forward to some of the basic drawing and painting functions improving. Whilst it may be niche for Affinity in terms of usage, but the whole suite's compatibility with itself is very strong ... if only the autosave was a real backup autosave (not just recovery) in a chosen location, freehand drawing didn't lag so much (just compare to Sketchbook Pro and you will immediately see a big difference), the pens could draw proper straight lines as if using a ruler, oh yes and the ruler could do with some serious rationalisation of unit division... Best of luck!

In Pen mode, click (without dragging) at the start point, and then click (again without dragging) at the end point. Alternatively, use Line mode or Polygon mode.

The only real backup is by doing real backups, preferably using a dedicated backup program. That does (at the very minimum) daily backups

If autosave saves a corrupted copy of the document you are working on, it's not going to be much use to you.

And then one can adjust the coordinates of each of the end points numerically using the Node Tool in conjunction with the Transform panel, using whichever of the available choice of measurement units one chooses.
