toxlab
This is a pretty basic question that may have been answered before: objects, text, etc disappear when they are dragged off the page. I find it useful to put objects off to the side while I am constructing a figure, but can't figure out whether I can select a setting to make objects always visible off the page or that this is not supported in AD. Thanks!
Staff Callum Posted August 2, 2016 Staff Share Posted August 2, 2016 Hi Toxlab, If you go to View > View Mode you should see an option for Clip To Canvas turning this off will allow you to see objects you have dragged off of the page :) Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. toxlab
Cheers Callum! AD should make this a preference so that it is automatic for new docs.
Fixx
Rather AD should remember last setting and follow it in new docs.
R C-R
By default (I think) the backslash ( \ ) is assigned as a keyboard shortcut for toggling Clip to Canvas on & off. This makes it pretty easy to show or hide off-canvas items on the fly as needed. R C-R
I had forgotten there are roughly a zillion different Apple keyboards, not to mention all the Windows ones. I use an English Apple one with a numeric keypad, so for me the backslash key is the unshifted one just above the Return key. That is a lot easier to use than with a keyboard requiring the three finger option-shift-7 key press, but the shortcut can be changed to whatever you want.
