When the Show all text menu item is used from the Text menu, it also shows disabled (hidden) text. Is this default behaviour?

If so, how you we restore the document, to hide the disabled texts again (except enabling/disabling the disabled text layers one by one)

See below, the text 2 and 4 are disabled in the layers panel, but still being shown after show all text has been applied.

As far as I can see, the layer visibility is actually toggled on for all text layers by using the "Show all Text" option in Affinity Photo, it just does not visually update in the Layer panel unless you actually trigger an update by making a change to one layer in the layer panel (This should probably be marked as a bug).

So you will have to go through the individual layers and turn their visibility back off.

After all the whole point of the "Show all Text" option is to enable the visibility for any text object in your document independent of it's current visibility status (similar to the "Show All" layer option).

I do not see a "Show All Text" action/option in any of the Affinity applications, at least on Windows.

Can you show me a screenshot to help me find it, please?

FWIW, this update/redraw issue of the layer's visibility setting in the Layers panel is an issue since V1, requiring any user action in the Layers panel (panel options included) to show text layer's visibility ticked after selecting "Show All Text".

Also in the Photo persona of Affinity Publisher. It seems weird that it is not also in the Publisher persona.

I agree it seems like a bug. By the way, you don't to make a change; just switch away from the Layers panel to some other panel in that row of the Studio, and back again.

That does not work for me on my Mac. This may or may not be because I float the Layers panel along with the Text Styles & a few other panels rather than attaching them to the workspace window.

EDIT: Nope. Even if I drag the Layers panel into one of the attached panel groups switching does not fix it. I also tried double-clicking on the Layers name to collapse that group & then single-clicking to bring it back & that also dod not work.

So far, the only thing that does other than toggling the visibility of each hidden layer back to visible is to save, close, & reopen the file.

Is it floating all by itself, or along with some other panel in the same group? If it's by itself, then you can't switch to another panel on that row, and thus that workaround can't apply.

As I said, the Layers, Text Style, & others are in that group. Also see the edit I did to that post for more about it not working even if not floated.

One other thing that does work for me is to toggle the lock on any Text object in the Layers panel (showing hidden or not) & that seem to force the redraw with the correct visibility indicators. (Same for Hide All Text.)

You can use the States panel before "Showing all text" in order to capture (and restore later) the current visibility for (part or all of) your layers.

Affinity Suite 2.5 – Monterey 12.7.5 – MacBookPro 14" 2021 M1 Pro 16Go/1To

I apologise for any approximations in my English. It is not my mother tongue.

Yes you probably could, but it's kind of an overkill

Thanks! That sounds like be a good temporary solution.

Reading the comments above, it seems like a bug (since v1). Hopefully this will get fixed in future releases.
