pomme27 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I want to type the "livre" symbol (₶) into a text field in Affinity Publisher. When I try to insert the symbol, either via Edit > Emoji or by using the unicode value U+20B6, a rectangle appears in my Publisher document. The actual symbol does not appear. It works in Mac applications, however, and on this forum: ₶ ₶ ₶ ₶ Is there any way I get it to work in Publisher? Quote
Alfred Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Try using one of the fonts listed on the following page: https://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/20b6/fontsupport.htm Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
pomme27 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 I tried Ariel, Courier New and Times New Roman, but no luck. I don't have most of the other fonts. Quote
Alfred Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Try Quivira and/or Symbola. In my experience they’re both pretty comprehensive. I’m afraid I haven’t taken the time to find out whether there are more recent versions available for download from other sites. RE4LLY Posted May 3 Posted May 3 You could try adding the symbol in using the glyph browser panel, if you haven't tried that already. Quote

The Apple Color Emoji font does not include that character. And the font you are using does not have that character. So the .notdef (not defined) character appears instead (which is usually a rectangle). You need a font which includes that character. 3 hours ago, pomme27 said: It works in Mac applications, however, and on this forum: ₶ ₶ ₶ ₶ The applications are showing a fallback font. This forum uses the Inter font which does not have that character, so my browser/OS shows me a fallback font - which on my Windows system is Segoe UI in this case. Your macOS system will be showing you a different fallback font. I used the Font Finder (revised) browser extension to identify the font actually displayed. If you have a Mac app that displays the character, you can export the doc to PDF, and then check the PDF to see what font actually got embedded for that character. What font are you using in your document? Quote
