Hi,

I'm unable to open Nion Z5II NEF files with AP 2.6.2.

Is there something i need to set/install on AP to read the files?

Kindly advise.

Thanks.

It doesn't look like it is yet supported, according to the attached discussion. If it is NOT yet supported, you can download the free Adobe DNG Converter app and convert your RAW files to DNG format. They should open fine in APhoto.

2024 MacBook Pro M4 Max, 48GB, 1TB SSD, Sequoia OS, Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher v1 & v2, Adobe CS6 Extended, LightRoom v6, Blender, InkScape, Dell 30" Monitor, Canon PRO-100 Printer, i1 Spectrophotometer, i1Publish, Wacom Intuos 4 PTK-640 graphics tablet, 2TB OWC SSD USB external hard drive.

Hi @KenLow,

In the 2.6.2 update for Photo 2 if you change the RAW engine to Serif Labs in the Develop assistant section of the Photo settings then the RAW files from the Nikon Z5ii will then open.

hi, tried as advised but it's not working. the image file's metadata is there but the screen is blank/dark screen.

@KenLow Try the Free Adobe DNG Converter App. It will convert your NEF files to DNG format and should open fine in AfPhoto, until your camera is supported by LibRAW (the RAW engine Affinity uses). I haven't checked, but your camera is probably included in their database if you have the latest version of DNG Converter. You can still keep your NEF files too if you wish.

I'd strongly advise you to keep your original RAW files.

For raw files on your camera you can choose between RAW+JPEG, RAW+HEIF, or RAW on its own, so any time spent experimenting will probably be time well spent.

“Fine” (ca. 1:4) is less compressed than “Normal” (ca. 1:8). There’s also a “Basic” (ca. 1:16) compression option.

Under "RAW Recording, it was on ON High Efficincy. Ive changed it to lossless compression and its now showing the files

I’m glad to hear that you got it sorted! NEF (RAW) for your camera seems to be 14 bit, with a choice of “Lossless Compression”, “High Efficiency (High)”, and “High Efficiency”. The distinction between the latter two sounds rather arcane.
