KenLow Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Hi, I'm unable to open Nion Z5II NEF files with AP 2.6.2. Is there something i need to set/install on AP to read the files? Kindly advise. Thanks. Ken Quote
Ldina Posted May 2 Posted May 2 It doesn't look like it is yet supported, according to the attached discussion. If it is NOT yet supported, you can download the free Adobe DNG Converter app and convert your RAW files to DNG format. They should open fine in APhoto. Staff DWright Posted May 7 Staff Posted May 7 Hi @KenLow, In the 2.6.2 update for Photo 2 if you change the RAW engine to Serif Labs in the Develop assistant section of the Photo settings then the RAW files from the Nikon Z5ii will then open. Quote
KenLow Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 hi, tried as advised but it's not working. the image file's metadata is there but the screen is blank/dark screen. regards, ken Quote
Ldina Posted May 7 Posted May 7 @KenLow Try the Free Adobe DNG Converter App. It will convert your NEF files to DNG format and should open fine in AfPhoto, until your camera is supported by LibRAW (the RAW engine Affinity uses). I haven't checked, but your camera is probably included in their database if you have the latest version of DNG Converter. You can still keep your NEF files too if you wish. https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/using/adobe-dng-converter.html Quote 2024 MacBook Pro M4 Max, 48GB, 1TB SSD, Sequoia OS, Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher v1 & v2, Adobe CS6 Extended, LightRoom v6, Blender, InkScape, Dell 30" Monitor, Canon PRO-100 Printer, i1 Spectrophotometer, i1Publish, Wacom Intuos 4 PTK-640 graphics tablet, 2TB OWC SSD USB external hard drive.

Staff DWright Posted Wednesday at 12:58 PM Staff Posted Wednesday at 12:58 PM Hi @Andrew Grazier, Are you using standard NEF compression as my sample RAW files from the Z5ii open in Photo 2.6.3 Quote

There’s also a “Basic” (ca. 1:16) compression option. NEF (RAW) for your camera seems to be 14 bit, with a choice of “Lossless Compression”, “High Efficiency (High)”, and “High Efficiency”. The distinction between the latter two sounds rather arcane.
