I don't know if this is a bug or an issue with my computer but the menu bar at the top of affinity doesn't seem to work. I can select each category to open the drop down menus but as soon as I hover my mouse down the menu to select anything in the drop down, the menu just disappears as my mouse goes along and the nothing in the menu is clickable because it disappears. Further to this any menu i can open with keyboard shortcuts, like the settings menu for instance. I can open it with the keyboard shortcuts but can't click on anything on that tab, neither the side bar category's nor the options in the current selected category. After a while of trying to select things the program crashes. Also experiencing often crashes while just trying to work in the program. I don't think its my computer as i have fairly beefy hardware - ( intel i7, 4060 ti gpu. 2tb of ssd, 32gb ddr5 ram, up to date drivers) and the issue only seems to be happening in Affinity software, Designer, Publisher and Photo. Would love for anyone to offer some sort of guidance as I've tried many things. I've linked a short clip of the Menu bar issue.

Hi @EMONEY and welcome to the forums,

My initial guess would be the graphics drivers, but you mention that these are up to date. Can you confirm whether you use an NVIDIA RTX 50 series graphics card? If so, there is a known issue specific to the RTX 50 series cards and OpenCL, which is logged under AF-6025 though I don't think this would affect the UI itself.

Do you see the same issue when disabling Hardware Acceleration under the Affinity Designer Performance Settings?

Hi thanks for getting back super quick, so I've been conversing with chatgpt about the issue and the hardware acceleration setting is something it suggested so i turned it off (which was very hard because even just trying to use the settings tab caused the program to crash alot so it took many attempts) and yes the problem is the same regardless. My graphics card is a RTX40 series 4060Ti to be exact.

Hi @EMONEY,

Thanks for confirming and for testing...

In which case, I'm unsure what could be causing the issue, but I would run a factory reset of Designer by holding the Ctrl Key down while launching the app in case the user data file is corrupted. When you see the Clear User Data window, leave the first three options ticked, click the Clear Button and let the app finish launching to see whether that fixes the problem.

Note: A Factory reset will set any tool panel and toolbar customisation back to the factory defaults.

I think some 3rd party software has caused this sort of issue in the past

Please check this thread to see if you have any of the ones listed (especially the second one)

I would also check 3rd-party software, as @carl123 mentioned. That is often a cause of issues with the Menu.

This was exactly the issue GPU tweak was interfering with it, so far its even stopped it from crashing as well!
